This is a hand printed, hand colored woodblock print suggesting documents of "paper sons" entering the United States from China. This was inspired by the experience of my father, Bay Doc Chiang, at the age of thirteen, arriving at Ellis Island in New York as a "paper son" in 1937 to work in his older brother's laundry.
