Works on Paper
This is a letter written to my mother. My mother came from a village in Xinhui, China as a young bride of an arranged marriage to my father who owned a laundry in Queens, NY. She said to my siblings and me, as children, "I did not want to come to a strange country, to live with a stranger with dirty clothes." We lived in the back of the laundry, in a space, 10' x 14' until I was seven years old. My mother was a strong and fierce woman and I am forever grateful to her.
This letter was exhibited at Le Arie del Tempo, Genoa, Italy in 2009.
