Virgen de Guadalupe
Virgen de Guadalupe

2020

This artwork was created when I was a patient at Riverside Rehabilitation House in March, 2020. It was exhibited in a group show for Women's International Month in "She Is..." at One Art Space. The show was closed temporarily due to the COVID 19 pandemic but open to the public in late August.

On October 24, 2019, I had a severe reaction to an injection to increase white blood cells. I was in excruciating pain and finally fell asleep. I woke up a few hours later, still in pain. I opened my eyes, looked at the three boxes of latex gloves and thought I was seeing a vision of the Virgen of Guadalupe! As my eyes became more focused, I realized I was looking at blue latex gloves in the hospital. Even though I was still in pain, I had a good hearty laugh!!!
