Type A Aortic Dissection & Type B Aortic Dissection 2012
On Wed, April 4, 2012, I suffered a heart attack and a stroke as a result of a Type A Aortic Dissection and a Type B Aortic Dissection or a long tear in the aorta, in Kingston, Jamaica. I was an Artist in Residence at Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts on a Fulbright Teach/ Research Award. I was medevaced to Miami, Florida and had emergency open heart surgery on Fri., April 6, my 58th birthday, Good Friday and the full moon.
My special thanks and gratitude to Dr. Tomas Salerno, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and his staff at Jackson Memorial Hospital for saving my life and giving me a "rebirthday".
